I support an independent, arm's-length, and unbiased review of municipal governance, financial practices, administrative procedures, and decision-making processes, where appropriate.
The purpose is not to prejudge outcomes or assign blame. It is to establish facts, recognize strengths, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide residents with confidence that municipal government is operating in a transparent, accountable, and effective manner.
If the review confirms that existing practices were appropriate, residents deserve that reassurance.
If the review identifies deficiencies, weaknesses, or opportunities for improvement, residents deserve those answers as well.
Accountability should not be feared. Accountability should be welcomed.
